Subject: Urgent: Request for Investigation Regarding Unfair Treatment and Unjustified Penalty at Oman Airport

Dear Officer,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Raina Rodrigues holding passport no:P2570285 id no: 109017658, and I am a resident of India. I am writing to formally report a distressing incident that occurred on 9 june 2025, when I arrived at Muscat International Airport Oman.

I departed from India at 1:00 AM and arrived in Oman at approximately 7.00 AM. Upon reaching immigration, I was informed that my entry had been blocked and that I would need to pay a penalty of 2,000 OMR in order to have my block removed. When I inquired about the reason for this penalty, the immigration officers were unable to provide any explanation, stating that they had no information about the charges.

Despite this, I was detained in immigration for over three and a half hours, during which time I was not provided with any clear answers. I was also traveling with my 32 -month-old child, and the extended wait was extremely distressing for both of us. At around 10:30 to AM, I was transferred to Udaiba Police Station, followed by visits to several other stations, including Ruwi Police Station, ruwi narket police station, Matrah Police Station, and the Ministry of Labour. Throughout the day, I was moved from one location to another without any clear justification or information, and I was denied access to basic necessities such as food. The only sustenance I was given during this ordeal was a small bottle of water at immigration and one more later in the evening.

After numerous hours of distressing and confusing procedures, I was able to arrange funds with the help of others and eventually paid the 2,000 OMR penalty to secure my release by evening. This situation has left me feeling both confused and deeply upset, as I was not informed about any legitimate reason for the penalty or the alleged "block" on my entry.

I kindly request that this matter be investigated as I believe the handling of my case was unfair, inhumane, and lacking transparency. It is my understanding that penalties should be clearly communicated, especially when no crime has been committed or clear explanation given for such penalties.

I respectfully ask for your assistance in looking into this issue. Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your prompt response and action.

Sincerely,
Raina Rodrigues

Request for immediate assistance for Repatriation

This is to inform that, we are arrived in Oman on 2025 April 18 to work under Modern Peace projects. They were recruited with the agreement of Monthly salary and other employee facilities (food, accommodation, travel, medical support).

The current situation is:

The company name mentioned in the offer letter is quite different when they arrived in Oman.

There are no proper facilities and other benefits as mentioned in the offer letter.

There is no consistent work in the site and the wages provided by the sponsor is only for the days they work. (no monthly salary).

The passport is held in the custody of our sponcer.

We raised this issue with the sponsor and he informed us that Modern Peace Projects does not have a continuous stream of projects as mentioned in the offer letter and the wages would be based solely on the days they actually worked. As a result, we have been without pay for the past 20 days, and unable to support our families. They are living with the dependence of our financial status and deeply concerned about our financial situation and the well-being of the family members. Due to this lack of work and payment issues, we are unable to continue in employment with that firm and wish to return home to seek more suitable employment. Or we need continuous work and salary as promised.

As repeatedly requested our sponsor to facilitate their return to India. However, the sponsor has demanded a payment of 400 Omani Rial for our release, which we were unable to provide this much of amount, due to current financial distress. Their salaries are barely sufficient to cover our daily food expenses. Also we sent a resignation letter to the employer on 29th may 2025, but till now there is no response from the sponsor.

Compounding the issue, our passports are currently held in the custody of the sponsor, restricting their ability to seek alternative solutions. Therefore, we urgently request your assistance for Securing the return of their original passports and facilitating us to immediate repatriation to Kerala. We implore your assistance to this matter thoroughly and intervene on our behalf to ensure their fair treatment and safe return home. We are available to provide any further information or documentation that may be required. Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter. Please take necessary actions with immediate effect towards this issue.

Sincerely
