- The Embassy has taken cognizance of the matter and established contact with Mr. Viswanathan’s sponsor. It is learnt that Mr. Viswanathan is working illegally as a freelance worker under the sponsorship of his current sponsor just for the sake of name. The sponsor informed that Mr. Viswanathan had been advised to obtain medical insurance but he did not comply with this advice. The sponsor also informed that Mr. Viswanathan developed a heart-related condition about a year ago and initially visited Ibra Hospital from where he was transferred to Nizwa Hospital and subsequently underwent surgery. Now, Mr. Viswanathan is paying the hospital bills in installments. The sponsor also informed that he is not having the passport of Mr. Viswanathan and that the passport is with the brother of Mr. Viswanathan. When Embassy asked Mr. Viswanathan about his passport, he feigned ignorance.

He also requested that the matter may not be escalated with his sponsor stating that he is working independently and that his sponsor is not responsible for his medical expenses. Accordingly, the Embassy advised Mr. Viswanathan to submit a self-explanatory letter to the Embassy in this regard which is still awaited. Further, Mr. Vishwanathan himself confirmed to the Embassy that he is not inclined to return to India as he wants to continue earning in Oman.

Subsequently, the Embassy officials contacted Ms. Narzary’s sponsor who informed that she left his home two weeks ago and he has filed an absconding report filed with the Ministry of Labour. The information was later verified by the Embassy through the Ministry of Labour as well.

After completion of all formalities carried-out by the local authorities, the mortal remains of Late Mr. Pappu Kumar was airlifted by Oman Air flight No. WY-265 on 15.01.2026, which departed from Muscat at 03:25 and arrived in Lucknow at 0800 hrs on 15.01.2026.
