Kindly refer to your trailing email regarding the repatriation of Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Mir, holder of Indian Passport No. U2528638, to India. He is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Oman due to a serious medical condition.
2. The Embassy has taken cognizance of the matter and has contacted the owner of his company by telephone. It was informed that Mr. Aijaz arrived in Oman in July 2022 and has been working with Al Himah and Al Ibdaa Trading Co. as an accountant. The owner of the company, Mr. Magi, stated that Mr. Aijaz joined the company about four years ago and has always been a healthy and well-behaved employee. Around ten days ago, he reportedly started suffering from severe headaches and was taken to Aster Hospital for treatment. However, his condition did not improve and gradually worsened. Subsequently, on 2 March, he was taken to Sultan Qaboos Hospital for further medical care.

3. The Honorary Consular Agent of the Embassy in Salalah, Mr. Sanathanan, visited the hospital and met with the attending doctor. He reported that Mr. Aijaz’s condition is very critical and that he is currently not fit to undertake travel to India.

4. Mr. Sanathanan is regularly visiting the hospital to keep the Embassy updated on Mr. Aijaz’s condition. The Embassy is also in touch with the owner of the company. Mr. Aijaz’s repatriation can only be considered once his health stabilizes and competent doctors certify that he is fit to travel.

At about 1530h IST on 01 Mar 26, MT MKD Vyom was targeted approximately 50 nautical miles north of the coast of Muscat. Preliminary reports of strike by a drone boat, leading to explosion in the Engine Room, have emerged. Rescue operations were mounted on the night of 01/ 02 Mar 26, coordinated by Oman Maritime Security Centre. There were 17 Indian crew on board of whom 16 were safely evacuated by Panama flagged vessel MV Sand, while one Indian national, namely Mr Dixit Amratlal Solanki, has been reported dead. As reported by evacuated crew, the deceased was in the Engine Room at the time of impact. The body of the deceased could not be disembarked due to lack of access and heavy smoke in the Engine Room compartment. The Owner company has intimated that MT MKD Vyom is being towed to Kalba anchorage, Sharjah, UAE, where disembarkation of the mortal remains of Mr. Amratlal Dixit Solanki would take place. It has been informed that the vessel is waiting for port clearance and required permission from the UAE government on vessels call to Kalba. The company will thereafter be undertaking other formalities as per UAE regulations, including the death registration and transportation of mortal remains in coordination with Indian Consulate in Dubai. The Embassy is contact with the company and the family has also been kept informed. The other 16 rescued Indian crew have since been repatriated to India.
