In order to move further on the MoU on Maritime Heritage and Museums, the Indian side is requesting for the list of departments/museums in Oman which could showcase India's historical and maritime connection with Oman. Further, a visit of Indian delegation to Oman may be worked out (itinerary to be shared) to explore the possibilities of identifying artefacts, archeological evidences in Oman which can be placed in NMHC.

company M/s Novel in collaboration with an Indian firm M/s Kale Logistics Solutions. The
Omani side informed that they will reach out for any technical assistance, should the need
arise. Omani side also said that as of now it seems there is no need of formation of

The Sohar University is currently completing the required national procedures for the establishment of the ICCR Chair Programme of Indian Studies between ICCR and Sohar University. The same is expected to be completed by mid-February 2026. Following this, the Sohar University proposes for the official launch ceremony with ICCR in April – May 2026 either through an ICCR delegation visit to Sohar University or Sohar University delegation visit to ICCR in India. The Chair professor may commence duties of the post of the ICCR Chair from the beginning of the next fall semester in September 2026.

MoU for the establishment of Chair of Indian Studies at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) is under negotiation. The Draft is pending with SQU for reconsideration of Article (10). The Embassy proposed the following amendment for Article 10 of the draft MoU [The provisions of this contract shall be interpreted and governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman. Any dispute arising out of, or in connection with, this MoU shall be settled in good faith amicably through diplomatic channels] vide Note Verbale dated 01 December 2024. A revised formulation for disputed clause viz. Article 10 of the MoU [“The provision of this MoU shall be interpreted and governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman. The disputes arising out of this MoU shall be settled amicably by both the Parties”] was shared with Omani side on 3 September 2025. There is no response from the Omani side even after various follow ups till date.
